About Me

 

Originally from Sheffield, Ian's career has been shaped by a genuine passion for hospitality, golf, and business transformation.

He spent 13 years with JD Wetherspoon, progressing from team member all the way to Area Manager — overseeing up to 20 venues, 1,000 staff, and multi-million-pound revenues across the Midlands. It's a background that gave him something most golf club consultants simply don't have: serious, large-scale commercial and operational discipline.

When the chance came to become General Manager at Coventry Hearsall Golf Club — a club he was already a member of — Ian made the move. Over the following six years, he helped rebuild the club's reputation from the ground up, grew membership, modernised operations, and turned it into a genuinely vibrant, profitable, and community-driven club.

That track record earned Ian a place in the final three for the GCMA Manager of the Year Award 2025 — recognition of his passion, innovation, and commitment to the game.

Ingentro was born from that experience. Ian knows what it takes to run a club well because he's done it — and he built this consultancy to give other clubs access to the same thinking, structure, and standards.
