The Challenge Across the Golf Industry
Many clubs are facing the same cycle. Costs keep rising — from staffing and utilities to course maintenance and machinery. To cover the gap, membership fees increase. But higher fees put the burden back onto members, often leading to frustration, slower recruitment, and reduced accessibility for new players.
At the same time, food and beverage operations are frequently expected to “just run”, rather than operate as a strategic revenue generator. Margins are inconsistent, staffing is difficult, and the clubhouse can become a cost centre instead of an asset.
Without strong, reliable income streams, it becomes difficult to fund long-term improvements. Machinery replacement gets deferred, buildings start to look tired, and strategic plans stall — not because the club lacks ambition, but because the resources are simply not there.

Ian McCairns & Gary Marshall have spent their careers working inside golf clubs and hospitality environments, so we understand the realities of day-to-day operations — the culture, the expectations, and the pressure to consistently deliver for members and guests. Ingentro was created to give clubs and venues the structure, clarity and confidence they need, without the expense or commitment of full-time on-site consultancy.
Our role is to come in for a focused period, gain a clear understanding of how things work today, and agree an achievable plan for improvement. After that, we stay connected in the background through regular check-ins and ongoing support. We work collaboratively with your team, offering guidance, reassurance and practical solutions tailored to the way your club or venue operates.
Our approach is straightforward, respectful and hands-on where it matters. We care deeply about getting things right — for your people, your members, and your long-term future.
