Pay & Train People Properly
Pay & Train People Properly
There is a clear difference between covering a shift and running a department , yet in many golf clubs, that line is blurred.
We regularly see individuals expected to:
Lead teams
Handle complaints
Drive sales
Control stock and margins
Manage rotas
Deal with suppliers
Maintain member satisfaction
…and often deal with everything else that comes their way.
Then performance dips, and the assumption is effort.
But more often than not, the issue is this:
👉 The role has evolved
👉 The responsibility has increased
👉 The support, training and pay have not kept up
Paying people properly is not about overspending.
It is about being honest about what the role actually requires.
If you want someone to lead and improve an operation, the role has to be treated accordingly.
That means structure.
That means clarity.
And most importantly ,that means training.
Because leading a team, managing performance, driving revenue and maintaining standards are all learned skills.
They do not develop by chance.
Hope is not a training strategy.
And “they’ll pick it up” is where inconsistency begins.
At Ingentro, we work with golf clubs to build practical training, clear management routines and confident teams ,the kind that perform under pressure, not just on paper.
